WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMMON ALUMINIUM WINDOWS AND CURTWAIN WALLS?

Common aluminum windows and curtain wall systems are both used in construction projects, but they have some important differences.

common windows

Aluminum windows are typically designed for use in low-rise buildings and residential structures. They are often fabricated as single or double-hung units, sliding windows, or casement windows. These windows are usually attached to the building's structure using a frame, which is anchored to the wall or the window opening. They are designed to be installed relatively quickly and easily, and they often come in standard sizes.

On the other hand, a curtain wall system is designed for use in high-rise buildings and commercial structures. It is a non-structural system of aluminum framing and glass, which is attached to the building's structure. The framing of a curtain wall is typically more complex than that of a common aluminum window, with more components and larger sizes. Curtain walls are designed to provide a more aesthetically pleasing appearance than conventional windows, and they often incorporate different types of glass, such as insulated or tempered glass, to provide better thermal insulation and safety.

Another key difference between common aluminum windows and curtain wall systems is their performance. Aluminum windows are designed primarily for thermal insulation and protection against the elements, while curtain walls are designed to provide better insulation and energy efficiency, as well as sound attenuation and resistance to wind loads and seismic events.

In summary, the main differences between common aluminum windows and curtain wall systems are their design, function, and performance. While aluminum windows are typically used in low-rise residential structures, curtain walls are designed for use in high-rise commercial structures, and are more complex, perform better, and offer a wider range of aesthetic options.
